October 21, 2025A ‘Fang-tastic’ Time at Halloween Arts and Crafts Sale
Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community member Sandra Rodriguez brought the Halloween spirit on Sept. 20 by hosting a “spooktacular” Halloween arts and crafts sale.
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Salt River Community Building, visitors explored different craft items designed by local artists.
Walking in, visitors were greeted with spooky tunes and smiles. The artists had their own tables where they set up their crafts for display and purchase.
Craft items included decorative wreaths, tote bags, beaded jewelry, and crocheted characters and animals. Also tempting was an array of baked goods that were “eerie-sistible.”
Rodriguez loves crafts and Halloween, and she wanted to share her love for both by hosting a Halloween-themed arts and crafts sale for the Community.
“I think most people generate stuff towards Christmas, but I’m a Halloween fanatic,” said Rodriguez. “I decided last year, ‘Why don’t we have a sale?’ That led me to [one] at [the] Lehi Community Building. I put an ad in, and next thing I knew, I had 25 vendors. This year I have 35 vendors.”
Rodriguez explained what the process was like setting up the sale and making preparations. “The process basically was letting my vendors know maybe six months to a year in advance and having them create all the different types of items that they want to showcase at the sale,” she said.
She said she plans on hosting another sale next year.
“It’s always fun to have something that brings us [out] to enjoy ourselves, and I think this is one of those things that people come [to]. They laugh and they have a good time, and they buy all the creations that everybody’s selling. I just think it’s a good thing,” said Rodriguez.
“It’s just a fantastic and awesome feeling to have people, you know, really interested in Halloween.”
This spooktacular sale was only the beginning of the Halloween-themed events that are coming up around the Community.
