Safety on the Vaila Dancefloor

By Nalani Lopez

The Accelerated Learning Academy gym transformed into a dancefloor in December for Salt River School’s Vaila Night and Soda with Security event.

Students, families, and faculty came together to learn some wintertime safety tips and enjoy an evening of lively cumbia music, performed by the band Nathan and Company.

Bringing the holiday cheer, the band performed among festive decorations, including a Christmas tree surrounded with wrapped presents on December 19.

As the night unfolded, students eagerly participated in raffles and contests, winning prizes from beneath the tree. Awards such as Best Dressed, Life of the Party, and Cumbia Contest Champion highlighted the talented dancers of the evening.

Between dances, attendees enjoyed pizza and soda while also learning valuable holiday safety tips. The Safe Schools and Security team, led by Manager Esteban Lopez, shared insights on situational awareness, shopping safety, and cold-weather preparedness, ensuring everyone left the event informed during the holiday season.
