The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community celebrated the 4th of July in person on July 2, 2022 at the Salt River High School Football Field. The event kicked off with a welcome from SRPMIC Tribal Council members Cheryl Doka and David Antone; the Miss and Jr. Miss Salt River court lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The Community enjoyed music by Eagleheart and a meal of hamburger, hotdog, potato salad, beans and a cookie; all served by Picnic Specialties. Families were welcome to sign up for games such as water balloon toss, bubble gum blowing and watermelon eating contests; the night ended with a spectacular firework show.
