October 19, 2026Ske:g Himdag Ki: Fun Fair!
On a warm September evening, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community families gathered at the Ske:g Himdag Ki: for the annual Fun Fair.
Youth Services and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Salt River O’odham & Piipaash hosted this year’s Fun Fair on Sept. 18.
Community departments showcased their services and shared information as well as goodies. There were also fun outdoor games, activities, food and even two water slides. Sekik ha’hajuñ (happy relatives) walked up and down the aisles of the booths. The Salt River Fire Department’s booth was a big hit for families, as Deputy Fire Chief for Operations Michael Mink and others handed out their signature yellow fire hats.
The O’odham Action News team participated in this year’s Fun Fair. The team shared the most current issue of the newspaper and fun information about the process of producing the paper. OAN also shared a call for artist submissions for an upcoming special edition that will highlight Community members’ artwork.
