Frightful Fun and Eerie Eats at Fall Festival

By

Spooky tunes and fearful festivities kicked off at the Salt River Baseball Field on Oct. 25 for the annual Fall Festival.

The area was filled with nonstop music, games and fun as Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members came dressed as clowns, movie characters and, yes, even Rumi from the popular Sony production and Netflix show “KPop Demon Hunters.”

As festivities began, music was provided by DJ Reflekshin, and attendees were able to enjoy food and vendor booths by local artists.

The Community Relations Events team set up games which included bobbing for apples and pie-eating contests.

Guests enjoyed an outdoor screening of the films “Hocus Pocus” and “Scooby-Doo,” and an area was dedicated for trunk-or-treat displays. The Health and Human Services Public Health team was voted as the best display for the second year in a row.

The costume contest was very popular for all ages. Costumes included funny ones like Madea and the famous painter Bob Ross. Others were Art the Clown and La Llorona, or “The Weeping Woman,” which is a widely known figure in Mexican and Latin folklore. Contestants were divided into four age groups.

As the night wrapped up, friends and families, boys and ghouls left with spooky treats and fun memories that will hold them until next year’s celebration.
