Who Will Be the Most Fang-tastic?

By

It was a spooky morning with a crisp breeze when Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community employees gathered to display their creative costumes. The annual Halloween Costume Contest took place on Oct. 31 at the Two Waters Courtyard. Employees gathered to see who was the “ghostess with the mostest.”

Although everyone looked boo-tiful in their costumes, there could only be six winners. A panel of three judges had the difficult privilege of evaluating the costumes on creativity and originality to choose two costumes for first, second and third place.

The judges included Administration Director Rueben Malin as Waldo, Assistant Director of Social Services Kellianne Richards dressed up as herself, and Public Works Director Josh Sciacca dressed up in Public Works gear.

The winners received $250 for first place, $150 for second place and $100 for third place.

After laughs and cheers from the audience, a difficult decision was made. In third place were Aarick Mack from the Cultural Resources Department as Madea, and Graciela Olivas from the Community Development Department with the Raptor as Jurassic Park. Coming in second place were Julian Martinez from Finance as Ozzy Osbourne and Ketty McClain-Young from Health and Human Services as Foxy Brown. The first-place winners were Marie Osborne, Angela Williamson and Antonio Enos from Finance as Laverne and Shirley with Squiggy, and Koda Jackson and Jacob Schurz from Recreation as Globo Gym.

It was an un-boo-lievable time.
